Hello, Everyone! It's been a while. No, this is not an optical illusion. For the past several months I suspended development on this site and removed references to this site from wherever I used to publicize it.
Among other things, I spent the past year and a half going back to school and throwing all my concentration on my course work. A month and a half ago, I picked up a Masters degree. The following day, I returned to the job market, where I remain as I write this.
I am considering redoing this website completely, using many of my newfound skills. As I write this (6/26/2012), however, I am in deep contemplation over:
The CMS option would mean converting this site into a blog project and could mean that I might not be able to demonstrate what I can do with a database on a website, which has always been among my strong suits as a web developer. On the other hand, maybe this could mean that I might revive my career as a writer.
No matter what, the look and feel of this site shall be completely different.
Most of the content of this site is still intact and functional, including My DVD Collection, the data for which I have not updated in over a year (and since I have not bought any DVDs in over a year, perhaps it is just as well). If time permits me to revisit this area, my concentration would be to work on the look and feel, particularly using more CSS3 and HTML5 there.
If I cannot consider this site a "demo" site, a "portfolio" site, or a calling card of sorts, I still consider this site a "workshop" for me to experiment with this and that, a place where I can make mistakes and judgment calls freely.
In May 2012 I renewed this space for another year. Regardless, the rash of timeout errors which occur on this site is a great embarrassment for me. I am not ruling out shopping around for a new host.
I am grateful for your visit. Your constructive comments are welcome at firstname.lastname@example.org.
